Today was a day of rest to explore and head to the Tala Kaveri temple - the birth place of the river Kaveri.
I've heard a few different stories but the gist of it is that the daughter of sage Kavera became Kaveri. She married a saint Agasthya and in order for her people to prosper, she became a river. Food for the body, light to the eyes, wealth to the state and joy to the mind.
For me - I am not religious but enjoyed the spiritual significance of the place. I soaked up the surrounding nature, the strength of the mountains, the vastness of the open spaces and the sounds of life. I could only think how I wish we would treat nature with the respect we treat the various sacred scriptures.
To just take in the tranquility and beauty of nature is something we have all experienced at various times - those moments when we are at that viewpoint and become reflective and contemplative. Our problems and worries seem less significant as we see the world as the creation that it is and reflect on how small we really are.
I am now sitting here watching the light dim and the sun set over the mountains getting ready to recharge the batteries for a new day.
